Weehawken Pomeranian Rescue is an all volunteer group. We do not have a shelter; therefore, all of our dogs are in private foster homes throughout the central New Jersey area. Our pomeranians come to us primarily from local shelters, but also from owners or breeders who can no longer care for them.
The adoption fee is $250. ALL WPR-NJ dogs are:
- Heartworm Tested: If the dog tests positive, treatment is provided
- Neutered or Spayed
- All vaccinations, including DHLPP, Rabies and Bordetella
- Fecal test: If the dog tests positive, treatment is provided
- "Home Again" Microchipped with paid 1-year membership and benefits
- Flea and tick preventative
- Heartworm preventative
Within 24 hours of taking your new family member home, the foster home will contact you to make sure the transition went well and answer any potential questions. In fact, during the entire trial period, the foster home will continue to be in contact with you on a routine basis until the adoption is finalized.
Why is that? Our foster homes do their best to learn about and expose their fosters to routine family living. However, in their forever home, dogs may experience things that they haven’t experienced in their previous or foster homes.
For example, do you have cats? Do you ride motorcycles (and the noise is loud)? What happens during a thunderstorm? WPR-NJ has a wonderful network of resources to help with any questions or concerns.
